“Jake is a fantastic writer to work with. Not only is he knowledgeable about a wide range of topics related to startups, he's so easy to communicate with, delivers on time, and always goes above and beyond the brief. I'd highly recommend Jake to any businesses looking to grow their audience with blog content.”
-Melanie Broder (Startup Stockpile / Unitel)
“I've worked with Jake remotely for several years. Jake is a dream to work with. His bright, positive, and can-do attitude supports his well-researched posts that are always meticulously written and on time. As an editor, if I don't understand the context of something he has written based on his experience in the field, nothing is too much trouble for him to explain the full picture to me. I must say, I really enjoy working with Jake and his many contributions.”

How I work
Pricing
I price based on outcomes and the value delivered, not just word count or hours spent. Every project is different. Your goals, timeline, audience, and complexity all factor in. I customize proposals based on what you're trying to achieve and the impact the work will have on your business.
My minimum engagement for new clients is $1,625. This ensures we have enough scope to create meaningful impact and allows me to dedicate proper time to understanding your business and audience. Reach out to talk through your specific needs!
Invoicing and payments
Here’s what you need to know about paying for my freelance writing services:
Invoices are issued at the end of the month.
Each piece of work is itemized separately on the invoice.
I request payment within 30 days; you’ll get a few automated reminders.
You can pay invoices via debit, credit, or bank transfer. There are no transaction fees on your end.
My stance on AI
AI can be an effective tool for conducting research and workshopping ideas. I use AI to help refine structure and clarity. I see it as a tool to enhance my work, not replace it.
Specifically, I use tools like Grammarly for real-time editing, Claude for style-checking drafts, and Perplexity for research when I need specific stats that are hard to find through regular search. I will use AI to help generate an outline if one isn’t provided.
Finally, AI detection tools are not always reliable. While I ensure my writing is high quality and original, if needed, I’m happy to make adjustments to align with specific guidelines around AI usage.
Contracts
I have a fair and straightforward contract that outlines how we'll work together, the scope of work, pricing, etc.
Turnaround time
My standard turnaround time is 10–14 business days, depending on my current schedule. As I get closer to the end of the month, that window may extend a bit since I’m often booking projects into the following month.
If you have a specific deadline in mind, let me know, and I’ll confirm availability or suggest the next best start date.
Communication
To stay focused and productive across client projects, I typically keep communication to email and Google Docs comments. However, if joining Slack becomes absolutely necessary, I’m happy to discuss.
Revisions
I've been writing professionally since 2009, and I'm happy to say I've never had major issues meeting client expectations. If the first draft doesn't hit the mark, I provide two rounds of reasonable revisions.
Sharing work
I reserve the right to post any writing work (including ghostwritten projects) to my portfolio if I choose, unless otherwise agreed to.
Hourly rate
I don’t charge by the hour for writing work. I charge by the project based on the value provided.
Getting started
I strive to be easy to work with and remove as much friction as possible when we collaborate on projects. Here’s what that looks like:
Reach out to schedule a call.
I’ll send you a quote and my standard writing contract.
Please provide a content brief if you have one; otherwise, we can collaborate on creating the brief.
I’ll submit the work via a shared Google Doc.
I complete up to 2 rounds of revisions.
