Image taken from an offsite activity when I worked at Atlassian. We visited a prison and worked with inmates on creating a business plan for a business they could start once they were released.

I got my start in customer service in 2007 (the same year Zendesk was launched). I was an intern at a music marketing company in Nashville, where I was responsible for answering hundreds of emails a day from eager country music fans… all managed out of a Gmail inbox.

It was then that I realized you could work with creatives and techies in a customer-facing capacity, and I was hooked.

My first job out of college was a contract gig writing short music biography snippets for an entertainment website. When that project concluded, I landed a job as a Project Manager with a small web design and marketing agency.

I eventually discovered the software as a service (SaaS) space and I’ve been lucky to have a really fun and rewarding career ever since. Having been the first customer-facing hire at several different startups, I understand what it takes to build customer support and success from the ground up.

In 2022, I left full-time work and I’ve been doing contract work ever since. Today, I’m lucky to spend a lot of my time recording music and touring as a professional drummer. My passion for customer experience and tech remains, and I’m lucky to work with some really great people and companies as a writer.

Outside of work, I love to hike, play drums, record music, watch documentary films, and dabble in photography.
